Memorable Occasions
There have been many memorable occasions during the last 8 years:-
- Firstly must be the great hospitality we have received:-
- In the many villages in which we have stayed. It has been a great
privilege to live alongside Papua New Guineans in the village - eating,
sleeping and storying.
- From so many people in Australia and New Zealand while we have been
carrying out our deputation work.
- Daily devotions with our CHW students, and to observe their
spiritual growth. Also the many very uplifting services we have enjoyed
in villages around PNG.
- Our walk to Ikara in 1997, which involved wading across the river 35
times and crossing a very precarious mountain ridge.
- Our arrival at the desolate Cape Gloucester airstrip in 1997, with
no one to meet us! no vehicles! no people! only volcanic ash!
- Our sea journey from Wanigela to Oro Bay in 2003, when our operator
ran out of fuel way out at sea, and it took us 4 hours to paddle into
land using clay pots, kettle lids and washing up bowls
- The sad occasion of the memorial service to Melanesian Brother Robin
Lindsey.
- Magnificent Installation ceremonies for Bp Michael Hough and Bp
Roger Jupp.
- Graduation Ceremonies for our CHW and GN students. Particularly
seeing the number of CHW graduates grow each year.
