Satisfaction

What has given us the greatest satisfaction during the last 8 years:-

  1. Top of the list must be that we have both been able to hand over to Papua New Guineans.


  2. On behalf of the worldwide Anglican Church:-

    • a) We were able to give to sufferers of the 1997-98 drought support in the form of food supplies, water containers and seeds.
    • b) We have continued to give support to survivors of the Tsunami in Aitape since 1998.


  3. There has been a marked improvement in mother and child activities. Each year:-

    • 975 more people received family planning assistance (17% increase)
    • 737 more women attended antenatal clinic (69%)
    • 124 more women had their babies delivered in a health facility (28%)
    • 6,621 more children attended a child health clinic for growth monitoring (32%)
    • 2,127 more children were immunised against infectious diseases (171%).


  4. St Margaret's CHS School has increased from 15 to 53 students


  5. St Barnabas School will soon have academic accreditation from Divine Word University.


  6. All of our staff have received some form of further training during the last 3 years.
  7. We now have:-

    1. 292 active Village Birth Attendants
    2. 155 active Village Health Aides
    3. 214 Village Health Promoters trained to work with their own village communities in improving their health.
    4. The number of patrols carried out each year has increased by 154%.


  8. 11 Water Systems are complete including the hydroelectric system at Koinambe and the Chlorination plant at Oro Bay.


  9. All of our health facilities:-

    1. in the worst state of repair, except the inpatient ward at Tarakwaruru, have been refurbished, and in many cases extended.
    2. now have the essential basic equipment.
    3. except one, now has access to Radio (the Urin radio will be installed in January).


  10. All Health Centres, including those previously designated as Sub Centres, now have solar lights, hydro electricity or a generator, and do not have to rely on the light of kerosene lamps.
