The National Department of Health have invited Health Secretaries and Principals to a meeting at the end of November to discuss its plans for consolidating the training into 8, rather than the current 14 schools. All are run by the churches, none by the Government. Our Concept Submission to the AusAID PNG Incentive for funds to build the new school has passed the first stage of scrutiny, so we are mildly optimistic. St Barnabas’ School of Nursing We are awaiting a visit from Divine Word University to finalise our submission for academic accreditation for the new diploma level general nursing course. SIA (Supplementary Immunisation Activity) The National Department of Health are currently running a programme across PNG to immunise every child under the age of 5 against Measles and Polio. This is being carried out by our own staff in teams on a province by province basis. All provinces in which AHS operates are now complete. |
